Uber is now available in Malta and arrives to compete with other established transportation companies such as Bolt, Ecabs, Ryde y Hi Cabs. Its platform allows users to request a cab service from their location, check the price and estimated time to their destination and information about the driver who will provide the service.
The app could previously be downloaded in Malta, but the user received a notification that Uber did not have coverage on the island.
According to Uber, the app was opened more than 10,000 in 2021 and in 80,000 in 2019. Mainly by tourists and students arriving on the island and looking for alternative means of transportation.
Drivers working for Uber will have access to the member protection program, which includes various compensation payments for loss of income in the event of trip accidents, injuries or hospitalizations.
At its launch, Uber is offering incentives to both passengers and drivers. To passengers, they will offer five rides at a 50 % discount using the promotion code: UBERMALTA. And for drivers who join, discounts on the service fee and incentives for referring other drivers.

ToggleUber prices in Malta vs Bolt
According to a test we conducted today on the app, a ride between the LOVE monument in St Julians and the Triton Fountain in Valletta costs €11.87 on UBER, while on Bolt it is €7.9.
It should be noted that these applications update the prices of their services, according to the schedule and the demand that exists. However, the fact that UBER is already available in Malta means the possibility of competition in the market, which will undoubtedly benefit mainly the users.
