ToggleWhat is ETIAS and how to process it?
ETIAS', for its acronym in English, refers to a "European Travel Information and Authorisation System", which in Spanish would be something like a system of information and authorization to travel to Europe.
The ETIAS is an electronic and mandatory procedure, which will become effective as of mid 2025, for visitors from countries outside the European Union that do not require a visa.. This is the case of Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Argentina, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Brazil and others.
ETIAS will perform a detailed security check on each person traveling to the European Union in order to determine whether that person may enter any of its member countries.
This system seeks to verify that persons traveling for business, tourism or study purposes for less than 90 days are not a threat to security.
Processing the ETIAS online will be easy and fast, as it will take no more than ten minutes to complete and only requires your valid passport. Once granted, it will be valid for a period of three years and multiple entries.
