- The number of international student visas will be reduced by 35% in 2024 and 2025. This percentage does not include master's or postgraduate degrees, so there is no limit on the number of students for these programmes in any province.
- A PGWP will no longer be applicable upon graduation from a semi-private institution, only from a public institution from September 2024, so a student from a public college will have a post work permit upon graduation for up to 3 years.
- Those doing a master's or doctoral degree, regardless of its duration, will soon be eligible for a PGWP for up to 3 years in order to have the necessary time to gain work experience and apply for a residency.
- Resources for Tracking Change and Getting Support
- In the coming weeks, open work permits will only be available to spouses of international students in master's and doctoral programmes or in law or medical degrees.
- Study visa applications from outside the province of Quebec will be on hold until the other provinces issue their attestation-acceptance letters (such as the CAQ in Quebec), the deadline for which is 31 March 2024.
