The first thing you need to know about the interview for study visa in Maltais that it is not a requirement for all students. The Visa Unit is in charge of randomly selecting those who will have to answer some questions about their application in person.

The questions you will be asked may vary, but they will always be directly related to your intentions and the list of documents you submitted to apply for the visa.

If you are one of those selected for the interview for the study visa in Malta, take note of the following questions, answer them in your own words and if you still don't feel confident, don't worry, contact your advisor at Boom Studies for support.

Possible questions you will be asked at the interview for a study visa in Malta:

1) How long do you plan to stay in Malta?

The time you will be in Malta will be exclusively for the duration of your studies. That is, if your course is for 6 months, you must mention this duration, and if you are asked for the date of return to your home country, this must coincide with the date on the tickets you presented.

2) Where are you going to study?

Even though you presented the letter from the school and the receipt from where you are studying, the officials want to verify that the information is true. Answer with the name of the school and the city where it is located.

3) How many hours do you study per day and what level are you at?

You should be clear and precise about your timetable. Check very carefully the hours of study per day that appear in the school's letter and, if asked, also indicate the level of the course you are in.

4) Why do you want to study English and why in Malta?

A common and also very obvious answer may be that it is a universal language and indispensable for everything. However, it can be much more beneficial for your application if you have more specific reasons, such as that English is crucial for your profession or that you want to do a Master's degree and require a B2 level, for example.

5) Do you plan or need to work in Malta?

Although the Maltese government grants students the possibility to work 20 hours per week, it would be best to answer in the interview for the study visa in Malta that you do not need to work and that you have the resources to support yourself on the island. Remember that your sole and main objective is to study English.

6) What is your profession and what do you do in your home country?

With this question you want to know how stable your life is in your home country, argue what you did before you left and make it clear why you want to return to your home country after the end of your course.

7) Where do the funds for your living expenses in Malta come from?

These funds can be your savings from your job in your home country, money you have been saving for your academic projects. It can also be family resources and money from a sponsor.

8) Who is your sponsor and why is he or she going to support you financially in Malta?

In case you have a sponsor, they may ask you why he/she or that organisation is supporting you financially and how much they send you monthly.

Possible answers could be because it is a very close family member with whom you have a strong emotional bond. In the case of a company or organisation, argue because they are willing to support you financially. The recommended monthly amount should be between €780 and €800.

9) Do you plan to travel to other countries during your studies?

Although the student visa in Malta gives you the possibility to travel in all 26 countries of the Schengen zone, we recommend that you say that your priority is to learn or improve your English.

You can mention that you would like to visit another country during the weekends, but always emphasise that your sole and main objective is to learn English in order to grow personally and professionally in your country.
